June 2010

Summer started with a bang! Cousin Adian (and his parents) came from Kansas for a visit. The boys got along so well and we had a terrific week of sailing, bbqs, and exploring Rhode Island. Joanthan was excited to show Aidan some of his favorite books.

Two very excited boys waiting for the train in Boston. Aidan said the train was one of his favorite things in Boston. We met us with Adrienne at our favorite pizza place on the North End, then we stopped at Mike's Pastry for dessert and took it to Paul Revere park to eat. Yum!

Michael took Adrienne, Mike and Owen for a sail on the Hobie. And Owen got his favorite place for the ride back to the beach. It was a little chilly that day with no sun so the boys huddled for warmth.

Michael needed both hands for two boys while walking to Battleship Cove. Then all the cousins (and one aunt) pose for a picture after lunch.

On a sunny day, Michael showed Mike how to rig the 420. Jonathan waits for his turn for a sail. There's always time for digging in the sand.

On their last night, we took them to Daily Scoop, our favorite creamery.

When the warm weather started, Jonathan begged to get out the slip and slide. Whee!! Here goes Owen.

Jonathan is thrilled as ever with the garden. This time, he picked lettuce, green beans, peas and basil to make a salad. He can't wait for the tomatoes, zucchini and cukes.

We had started the process to be an infant foster care family in February and thought we'd have our first baby towards then end of summer. It was a surprise to get a phone call that there was a baby who needed us. We had just a few days to gather all items infant to get ready for the baby. Here is baby Andrew! It took Michael no time at all to remember how to hold a newborn. In the carseat and ready to go!

Owen took to the baby instantly always wanting to feed him, hold him and take him for walks. What a great big brother. Of course Jonathan wanted a turn and was all smiles.

Even Adrienne came from Boston for the day to meet her new foster cousin. We had a great bbq dinner, too! Here's Jonathan and Adrienne's side of the table. And while we ate, Andrew just slept in the bassinet on the deck.

It was time for Andrew's first playdate. He slept through it, but he and baby Lilya had a nice visit. My friend Christy had her first just 10 days before Andrew was born.

We'll have Andrew for a total of about 4-5 weeks. The paperework is in motion for Andrew's adoption. When there's a match with a family, they will be able to come visit him here to make a smooth transition. It's a great blessing to be a part of this journey that will result in a new family.
