Jon and I decided to try the new Virgin American service between Boston and SFO. Jon was very excited about the colored lights and having a TV to himself.
In the morning, we had a nice breakfast at Uncle Stephan and Aunt Tracy's (Tracy got me hooked on scrambed eggs and tomato), then we headed off to Aunt Sully and Uncle Glenn's.
The next day, Jon and I headed into the City. We headed over to California Street and took a cable car to Chinatown, where we visited a Fortune Cookie factory. They were giving out free samples, which Jon sampled.
Next was the Cable Car Museum, where we saw a truck pushing a cable car that had lost it's cable.
We visited the steepest hill in San Francisco (so steep it has stairs for a sidewalk). Jon wanted to watch cars drive down it for a while, then it was time for lunch.
We decided to try a new ice cream place that had chocolate/cinnomin ice cream. Jon liked his, but was sad when he dropped some ice cream on the ground.
Jon was a little tired, so he decided to ride on my shoulders, but he perked right up when we got to the Moscone Center playground.
There was a big ball you could push up the stairs, push down the slide, then follow after, but you had to chase it and make sure no one else grabbed it.
Jon was too scared to go on the big slide all by himself, so I went with him. It was *fast*. I screamed all the way down.
We had a quick drink, then headed over to the hotel, which was much nicer than I expected. Jon finished up his fortune cookie. Even though he was very tired, we went out to In'N'Out where Jon got some stickers.
Jon was ready to sleep.
In the morning, Jon made a play bed out of pillows, then played trucks for a while, and decided to try taking a shower with a shower cap on.
A cable car and a K train took us to lunch, then we headed over to Golden Gate Park.
I never knew Golden Gate Park had such a great playground. It had a big concrete slide. The kids would carry up cardboard and zoom down on it.
The carosel with the chicken was also a big hit.
The next day, we went to Fort Point. A ranger showed us how to fire a cannon. Then we headed up on to the bridge to see the view.
Then it was back to Aunt Sully's where Jon discovered he likes to jump into the pool.
The next day, Uncle Stephen took us to the nature center that was next to the airport. There was also a science center, where you could build things. Uncle Stephen decided to defy gravity.
With all that walking and building, Uncle Stephen worked up quite an appetite, and shocked Aunt Tracy by having a huge lunch.
On Jon's last visit with the Cohens, he played dominos, and played a duet with Uncle Glenn.
Then it was back home.
What a trip!
